Thought is more important

The ancient talked about illusory nature of matter and I'm afraid that modern man has misinterpreted the word illusion to mean pointless. But the true meaning as was intended was to emphasize the constantly changing nature of things, that's why they said the physical world or the phenomenal world was an illusion.

The physical world is merely a crystallisation of thought. Nature or all that is not man-made is made of thought that was original in the design of the universal operating system while the man-made creations are the products of the thoughts of man.
When we think about thought we usually think about what is going on in our heads, but come to think of it what is really going on in our heads? We either hear conglomeration of words, pictures or sounds in our heads and we say we are thinking but what is thinking really?
A Thought is an algorithm, executing in our brains whose effects are the words, pictures and sounds that we call thought but really is merely the effects of thought itself. If you choose to couple the algorithm or software of thinking with its output then summarily we call it all thought, but for our discussion separating the code from the effects will help us comprehend what I mean by permanent thought and it's ephemeral effects. Thinking is the process by which this algorithm generates it's effect, these base algorithms are more permanent
, while their effects can change from moment to moment and differs from brain. If you have read my book the universal operating system you would already know that I proposed there that the universe is software-hardware stack, the brain is a microcosmic manifestation of that stack.
Both systems, brain and surrounding nature feedback on eachother. Brain and it's entire stack acts like the thought that influences nature, while the thoughts in your brain are the effects of deeper algorithms executing at other layers of the stack.
This relativity between phenomenology and abstraction, of brain and and nature, of our primitive thinking algorithms and thier effects, the thoughts in our heads is what made the ancients declare that the world is an illusion.
This was not intended on downgrading the importance of the world, it simply meant to shift attention towards the more permanent structures of mind-brain and away from the effects of the environment. Although this understanding was taken to the extreme by the unwise, we are now in a position to properly understand, balance our views and thus take advantage.
The Physical universe is a 3d fully immersive virtual reality experience, not designed mostly to entertain, although it's quite pleasing to the senses, but to demonstrate the deep algorithms encoded in the universal operating system.
It's not just a mere illusion, just like the constantly erased and rewritten information on a black board is not a waste of time because new information is constantly presented on it and eternal principles demonstrated. So is the physical universe, a demonstration system to enable conscious units obtain knowledge and technique towards self mastery and perfection of the purpose of universe.
The thought of a chair is a chair, something that affords the opportunity for a human body to rest in a particular posture. Independent of the many manifestation of it, the idea or thought of a chair and sitting remains the same. This is the evidence for the permanence of thought above manifestation.
And even this archetypal thought no matter how general is still a manifestation in the brain of a more general, deeper algorithm.
So where is software? Many people will say that if the mind is the software of the brain then, it must be located somewhere in the brain and thus they go about probing and digging into the tissues of the brain. Well, as far as that probing activity is concerned it's only use is in providing enough jobs for the looming numbers of PhDs without employment. It's use in telling us more about our brains is more useful in providing knowledge for pharmaceuticals than in understanding the brain in order to build a thinking machine.
It's just like staring at the circuitry of a running computer, you will never be able to decode that something like Mathematica software, with all the intelligence encoded in it is running no matter how hard you look, if you have never seen a programming language itself, talkless of all the layers of abstraction that makes possible a modern computer.
We will figure out the algorithms of thought more from software, algorithms and creative research and less from trying to reverse engineer a brain.
Neural networks looks inspired from the brain but in reality it's just maths, it's this kind of computational mathematics
and algorithms research that will bring us a thinking machine, that is non-biological intelligence.
And a word of encouragement to AI researchers out there, we will create a machine on par with and eventually to succeed human intelligence, but it's always going to be a tool. We will be able to create a simulation of a personality but very different from human personality but alike in many ways.
The problem of engineering a true human personality will take as much engineering effort as has brought us all our technological advances, including modern AI research itself.
It is in thought that true power is gained, thought extends longer than phenomenal extensions, thought communicated perpetually exists perpetually, thus it is more important.
It might take a lot of iterations to more accurately represent our thoughts in material form either as a physical device, code, words etc., But if we persist we will approach perfection ever closely.
Whatever we encounter physically is merely a shadow, thought is superior. The limitations of the physical world will eventually in the future be broken by the power of thought applied through knowledge.

Next Steps Towards Strong Artificial Intelligence

What is Intelligence? Pathways to Synthetic Intelligence If you follow current AI Research then it will be apparent to you that AI research, the deep learning type has stalled! This does not mean that new areas of application for existing techniques are not appearing but that the fundamentals have been solved and things have become pretty standardized.

How to become an AI researcher

Artificial Intelligence is all the rage these days. Everyone is getting on the bandwagon but there seems to be a shortage of AI researchers everywhere these days. Although many people are talking about doing AI not many people are actually doing AI research.

What is Intelligence: Patterns

PATTERNS What one person calls a pattern is very different from what another person refers to as one. Can we arrive at some kind of general idea of what a pattern is? It is my attempt to do so in plain words in this section.
